Rabat – Zineb El Adaoui, the first female president of the Court of Auditors in Morocco, has received the Knight Grade of France’s Legion of Honor.
El Adaoui was awarded this honorary distinction from the Ambassador of France in Morocco Helene Le Gal on Thursday, March 17 at the French Embassy in Rabat.
El Adaoui is Morocco’s first female auditing judge, first female president of the court of auditors, and became the first female wali Inspector general of territorial administration.
The Embassy of France in Morocco described in a statement El Adaoui’s career as “remarkable” and that of a “determined woman who, through her work and talent, reached the highest ranks in her country.”
“During her work as the Wali of the Gharb Chrarda-Beni Hssen and Governor of the Kenitra province, she worked hard to facilitate the construction of the high-speed line linking Tangier and Kenitra”, said the statement, describing the train line as “a project that embodies the exceptional partnership between France and Morocco.”
El Adaoui also ensured the successful construction of the plant of French automotive manufacturer PSA in the industrial area near Kenitra, highlighted the statement.
After earning a diploma of higher studies in economics from Mohammed V University in Rabat, El Adaoui began her career in 1984 as a judge at the Court of Auditors.
She became the president of the Regional Court of Auditors in Rabat in 2004.
She was appointed a member of the Regionalization Advisory Commission in 2010.
El Adaoui also served as a member of the National Human Rights Council in 2011 and as a member of the High Authority for National Dialogue on Justice Reform in 2012.
King Mohammed VI made El Adaoui a Grand Officer of the Order of Wissam Al Moukafaa Al Watania in 2013.
In addition, El Adaoui is committed to promoting female leadership and bringing together women leaders from all over the world. She is the founder of the Moroccan Office affiliated with the International Women Forum (IWF).
