Rabat – Marrakech will host the fourth edition of Moroccans of the World Awards between March 18 and 20 to celebrate the achievements of Moroccan immigrants who have excelled in their respective fields of expertise.
Two major events will mark this year’s award, namely a symposium on the topic “Moroccans of the World: Between Integration and Discrimination” and an evening dinner.
The organizers of the event stated that this year’s edition, which is hosted by “BM” magazine and “d’Ici et d’Ailleurs” magazine, is the only one of its kind in Morocco.
As the event’s first post-COVID edition, this year’s Moroccans of the World will be unique in its emphasis on the innovative visions of Moroccans whose accomplishments will be acknowledged during the awards ceremony, noted the organizers.
The Moroccans of the World Awards arose from a desire to honor Moroccans around the world “who have distinguished paths, and who represent real success models, whether in the receiving countries or in Morocco, their country of origin,” the organizing committee said in a statement.
The new award will bring together Moroccans from all over the world, notably from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, Israel, and the United States.
During the event, the Moroccan scientist and researcher Moncef Slaoui will receive a special award for his contribution to the discovery of the anti-COVID19 vaccine.
The Moroccans of the World Award will also honor Neta Elkayam, an Israeli singer of Moroccan origins, who represents the Jewish-Moroccan musical heritage, a very important component of the country’s cultural history.
The event will include competitions in six different categories: politics, entrepreneurship, society, sports, art and culture, and scientific research.
18 candidates selected across the world will compete for the six prizes during a lively event.
“Moroccans of the world represent a huge wealth for the kingdom. We wanted to contribute to changing the perception of this community,” said Amin Saad, the Founder of BM magazine. “We should not overlook the vital role these migrants play as true ambassadors of Morocco abroad.”
