Rabat – Ramadan is predicted to start on April 2 in the United Kingdom, according to three Muslim centers.
The London central mosque & Islamic cultural center, east London mosque & London Muslim Center, and Green Lane Masjid & Community Center have predicted Ramadan to last for 30 days from Saturday April 2 to Sunday May 1.
The dates will be confirmed after the moon sighting.
According to the global moon visibility maps, the new crescent moon will be easily visible to the naked eye on April 2 in most countries. Southern Australia, North-East China, and southern parts of Argentina and Chile can see the moon with naked-eye under perfect conditions.

According to the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), “the first group of Muslims to arrive in the 18th century, were lascars (sailors) recruited from the Indian subcontinent to work for the British East India Company.”
Islam is the second most followed religion in the UK with a large community that reached 2.79 million in 2011, the council added.
“British Muslims across the UK eagerly await the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, particularly the prospect of a return of the shared festivities we were used to before the pandemic,” said Secretary-General of the MCB, Zara Mohammed on March 28 in a press release.
In face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and refugee flow from Ukraine, “British Muslims will undoubtedly continue to embody the spirit of giving synonymous with the holy month; and act in service to those less fortunate,” she added.
Helping others is at the core of the Ramadan spirit with the month being dedicated to self-reflection and assisting people in need.
