Rabat – Former Moroccan international football player Mehdi Benatia has launched a non-fungible tokens (NFT) project under the name “Oasis 3.0.”
In a webinar that took place in the evening of Thursday, April 7, Benatia presented his project and revealed his vision and motivations for the launch.
Benatia announced the launch of the Oasis 3.0 project on March 16 through an Instagram video.
“My team and I have been working on this project for months, and we are getting there,” Benatia said. “For me, it is a way to give back to those who have supported me throughout my career, to benefit Moroccans.”
An NFT is a non-interchangeable digital asset stored on a blockchain, a digital ledger. It represents real-world elements such as art, music, or videos, that are bought and traded online, often using cryptocurrency.
The former footballer has been considering launching this project long before he retired in 2021.
Founder of the Bahri Association and moderator of the webinar Saad Abid explained that the project aims to offer a collection of 10,000 sports NFTs, including football, basketball, boxing, and American football.
The project stands out with its access to NFT-related sporting events and exclusive meetings with ambassadors and guest players.
According to Mggroup, which is working on the project alongside Benatia, Oasis 3.0 aspires to be a “bridge” between fans and athletes, creating a unique community.
Mggroup has released the project’s roadmap for the year 2022, which starts with building a community on Instagram and Twitter, rewarding early adopters, and appointing ambassadors in the first quarter of 2022.
In the second quarter of 2022, Mggroup will organize private events for the holders at multi-sport tournaments with ambassadors and guests.
The third quarter of 2022 will mark a meet-up with photoshoots, prizes, and jerseys giveaway organized by ambassadors and guests, as well as a private event called “Potential’s Booster”.
While Oasis 3.0 marketing is yet to begin, the project has already signed a partnership with a Dubai concierge, added Mggroup. The aim of this collaboration is to provide benefits to the community members.
Moroccan football player Amine Harit has recently announced his participation in the Oasis 3.0 project as an ambassador.
The project offers a collection of NFTs that will “add value to the world of sport,” Harit said.
