Rabat – Qatar and Morocco expressed on Monday their shared determination to advance cooperation in the judicial sector.
Abdellatif Ouahbi, Morocco’s Minister of Justice, held talks with his Qatari counterpart Masoud bin Mohammed al Ameri, who is on a visit to Morocco.
The two officials emphasized their will to explore new areas of cooperation in the justice and legal fields.
During the meeting, Qatar and Morocco also agreed on the need to establish an agreement aimed at contributing to activating cooperation activities to serve the reform workshops of the justice system in the two countries.
Ouahbi said that the meeting served as an opportunity to share their desire to move forward toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in the judicial field.
Ouahbi also emphasized the strength of relations between Morocco and Qatar, describing it as “strong” and “solid.”
The Qatari official echoed Ouahbi’s statement, stressing the importance of deepening judicial cooperation with Morocco.
He also praised Morocco’s efforts in serving security and stability by committing to the regional and worldwide against terrorism and organized crime.
Morocco and Qatar share good diplomatic ties, and the two countries are seeking to deepen their collaboration at all levels.
Morocco and Qatar’s trade volume has increased significantly in the past four years.
Bilateral trade went from $90 million to $207 million between 2017 and 2021, according to data presented during the eighth meeting of the joint Qatar-Morocco Business Council held in Doha in February.
Qatar is home to 80 Moroccan companies operating in partnership with Qatari businesses in different sectors, including the hospitality industry, trade, contracting, and fashion.
Data from Morocco’s exchange office said Qatar ranked as the fifth-largest holder of foreign direct investments in Morocco in 2016.
