Rabat – Moroccan actress Rachida El Harrak passed away today, April 15, at 74 years old.

The renowned actress  fought a long battle against cancer and spent several days in the intensive care unit before passing away.

El Harrak was badly ill, and had been in a private hospital in Rabat for the last few days.

The funeral of the deceased was held after Friday’s Asr – afternoon – prayer at the Chouhada cemetery in Rabat.

Several Moroccan actors mourned and sent their prayers to her family and loved ones.

Actor Mohamed Choubi said in a post that Rachida was an “example of the virtuous and generous women.”

Born in 1948 in Rabat, Rachida El Harrak was among one of the pioneering figures in the Moroccan theater landscape.

The deceased began her career in the late 60s and took part in several artistic works alongside renowned Moroccan actors such as Khadija Assad, Saadallah Aziz, Hamadi Amour, Amina Rachid, and Habiba El Madkouri.

Rachida El Harrak’s career touched many Moroccans over the decades. Her famous works include a leading role in Diab La Tamout (Wolves don’t die). 

Rachida Harrak also co-founded the troupe “Al Masrah Addahik” (the smiling theater) with her husband the writer Mohamed El Bassri, where she performed several plays including Nta w Zahrak (you and your luck).
