Rabat – The Moroccan women’s football team U17 secured a historic, landslide 11-0 win against Niger on Saturday at the General Seyni Koutche Stadium, in Niamey, Niger.

With this victory, the Atlas Lionesses have qualified for the third round of qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup scheduled to be hosted in India.

The eleven goals were scored by Sherif Djennah, Doha El Madani, Yasmine Zuhair, Khelifi Maisen, and Siwi Yasmine.

The Moroccan team will again face the Nigerien team in the return match that will take place on April 29 at Rabat’s Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah.

In the upcoming fourth and final round of the African qualifiers, the team is set to face the winner of the Guinea-Ghana match.

Morocco’s national women’s team will automatically qualify for the upcoming 2022 Women’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, as the country is hosting the tournament.

The event is scheduled to take place from July 2 to 23.

With four additional teams set to join this year’s competition, the number of counties participating in the event has now reached 12.

CAF’s ambitions to promote additional events for women and provide more chances are reflected in the addition of four teams to the tournament.

Countries represented in the tournament include Morocco, Tunisia, Zambia, Burundi, Botswana, South Africa, Togo, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, and Uganda.

The Moroccan women’s Football team played in the second edition of the VisitMalta Women’s International Trophy. The tournament took place between February 16 and 22.

The Atlas Lionesses claimed the title after scoring victories against Malta (1-0) and Moldova (4-0).
