Rabat – Reliable sources confirmed to MWN that Abdellatif Hammouchi has given clear instructions to “unveil the truth” about the latest traffic accident in Casablanca.
On Thursday evening, a traffic accident occurred in the Anfa district as a motorcycle patrol police officer chased a motorcycle carrying three individuals.
The accident led to the death of the biker and the two girls accompanying him were severely injured, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said on Friday in a press release.
Quickly after the incident, the prosecutor’s office ordered the opening of an investigation. Local authorities have also obtained footage from surveillance cameras and recorded testimonies from eyewitnesses to identify any abuse or violations on the part of the motorcycle police officer.

According to our sources, Hammouchi noted that patrol interventions “are subject to strict measures to avoid causing traffic accidents that affect the safety of road users and the police themselves.”
Hammouchi further stressed that DGSN prohibits dangerous police pursuits that can cause harm to the public.
The patrol officer is currently under police custody and part of the judicial investigation.
Last year, a similar case in Casablanca sparked public outcry after young man Youssef died in a traffic accident while being chased by a motorcycle patrol police officer for not wearing a helmet.
Youssef’s family and loved ones accused the policemen of “murder” and called for a proper investigation. However, the prosecutor’s office concluded that a “spontaneous collision” between Youssef and patrol office motorcycles caused Youssef’s death.
