Rabat – Eid Al Fitr 2022 in Morocco is expected on Monday, May 2, according to astronomy calculations.

Moroccan astronomer Hicham Aissaoui re-shared his astronomical calculations on the Eid Al Fitr date.

He said that Ramadan will be 29 days only this year. In Saudi Arabia, however, Ramadan will be 30 days.

Both countries are expected to announce May 2 as Eid Al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.

In February, Aissaoui, shared a similar calculation, predicting Eid Al Fitr to take place on May 2.

He said that Ramadan will last 29 days for the fifth year in a row in Morocco.

Morocco celebrated the first day of Ramadan on April 3. Other countries, in which Ramadan will last 30 days, celebrated the first day of Ramadan on April 2 — including Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Like other Muslim countries, Morocco celebrates Eid Al Fitr with a morning feast prayer called “Salat El Eid.”

Moroccans of all ages flock to mosques across the country to perform Salat El Eid. Afterward, the family gathers around a morning breakfast table adorned with different dishes, including sweets.

Some of the famous delicacies served during such occasions include msme’n (flat buttery breads), beghrir (Moroccan pancakes).

Moroccan moms usually put melted honey and butter on the top of m’smen and beghrir for a more delicious taste.

Exchange of visits and invitations to other houses is also common during Eid Al Fitr in Morocco. In the streets across Morocco, children also go out to play and show off their brand new clothes that their parents buy for them for Eid Al Fitr specifically.

Eid al Fitr is also known as Eid S’ghir (little version of Eid).

Moroccans, meanwhile, call Eid Al Adha (Sacrifice Feast) as “Eid L’Kbir” or the grand feast.
