Rabat – Eid Al-Fitr 2022 is expected to be celebrated in India on May 3, according to reports.

Muslims fast throughout the holy month of Ramadan, and as the month approaches to an end, the community is anticipating Eid Al-Fitr, which usually falls on the first day of Shawwal – the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

According to Bankbazaar website, May 3 is expected to mark the first day of Eid for the muslim community in India.

Eid Al-Fitr is a holiday in all Indian states except Goa, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

As the date of Eid Al-Fitr depends on the sighting of the moon, the exact celebration date varies from one country to another.

The official announcement has yet to be made in the coming weekend.

India is home to over 209 million muslims, representing more than 10% of the world’s Muslim population.

During Eid, Muslims wear traditional clothes, gather in mosques, and offer two units of prayer called “Rakat.”

Following prayers, families and friends gather around a table full of delicious dishes and congratulate one another on completing Ramadan.

Among key elements of the Eid celebration is Zakat Al fitr, the charity that Muslims have to pay at the end of Ramadan.

In Morocco, the High Council of Ulemas (scholars) has announced that the cash value of Zakat Al-Fitr is estimated at MAD 20 ($2.04) this year.

Citizens and residents in Morocco can pay the religious charity three days before Eid Al-Fitr, which is expected to be on May 2.

Countries which started Ramadan from April 3, including Morocco, Indonesia, Jordan, Oman, and India, will investigate the moon on May 1.

Other countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt expect Eid Al-Fitr to be on May 2.
