Rabat – Eid Al Fitr 2022 is set to take place on May 2 in the Netherlands, according to astronomy projections.
The day of Shawaal, the tenth month in the Islamic calendar, will correspond to May 2, according to Go to Pray website.
The first day of Shawal marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Muslims in the Netherlands will fast for 30 days in Ramadan 2022.
Like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and many other countries, the Netherlands celebrated the first day of Ramadan on April 2.
Other countries, such as Morocco celebrated the first day of Ramadan on April 3. Moroccans will only fast 29 days this year if the North African country announces May 2 as Eid Al Fitr.
Most countries across the world are expected to sight the crescent moon for Eid Al Fitr over the weekend before confirming the official date of the feast.
According to Statista, the Netherlands has over 17.1 million inhabitants. Muslims account for 5% of the total population.
Like in many other countries, Muslims in the Netherlands start their Eid day with Salat Al Eid or Eid prayers in the morning.
Go to Pray website said that Eid Al Fitr 2022 prayer will take place at 6:23 a.m. in Amsterdam.
“ You can also pray Eid Al Fitr prayer/salat in your home with your family or alone if you can’t’ go to the mosque for a serious reason,” the website said.
The website said that the prayer “extends until the time of Duhur Prayer/Azan time.”
Several other countries are set to celebrate Eid Al Fitr on May 2, including Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and Egypt, among others.
Several others, meanwhile, will celebrate the feast on May 3, including Pakistan and India.
