Rabat – In a royal letter, King Mohammed VI wished Jordan’s King Abdullah II a swift recovery following his operation, demonstrating the two countries’ close ties.
The surgery of King Abdullah II treated a herniated disc in the thoracic spine and was performed in a specialist hospital in Frankfurt, Germany.
“We have learned with deep joy the news of the success of the operation that Your Majesty has undergone in Germany,” wrote the Sovereign in a royal letter, as reported by the Moroccan state agency MAP.
King Mohammed VI beseeches the Almighty to grant him health and a long life, as well as further development and prosperity for the brotherly Jordanian people.
Jordanian-Moroccan relations
Morocco and Jordan have strong and long-standing relations characterized by a history of mutual support and interest in Arab, regional, and international issues.
The states’ relations are distinguished by cooperation, and coordination in political, economic, cultural, and tourism spheres.
Both countries work closely together to combat terrorism and increase trade and investment, mirroring the strong fraternal relationship between King Abdullah II and King Mohammed VI.
In line with the two nations’ solidarity policies, Morocco has consistently backed Jordan in its regional concerns, most notably the Palestinian issue.
Morocco plays a vital role in aiming to resolve the dispute over Palestine through the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency — led by King Mohammed VI — a key organization defending Jerusalem’s identity as Arab and Islamic.
In August 2012, King Mohammed VI authorized the establishment of a military field hospital in Jordan’s Zaatari camp to support its efforts to accommodate thousands of Syrian refugees.
Jordan also established its general consulate in Laayoune, southern Morocco, on March 4, expressing the country’s full support of Morocco’s position in the Western Sahara dispute and recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces.
These recent displays of Jordanian support and sympathy for Moroccan causes build on a long history of bilateral fraternity and collaboration.
Established on a foundation of mutual support, the Jordanian-Moroccan partnership has always served as a model for Arab relations and cooperative action.
