Rabat – Morocco’s Majorelle garden in Marrakech ranked as the second most beautiful garden in the world, according to data collected by Housefresh.

The results of the survey are based on how many times the word “beautiful” appeared in reviews posted on Tripadvisor by tourists.

Majorelle garden landed in second place with 8,187 “beautiful” mentions, while Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay came first with 12,385 mentions.

Luxembourg gardens in France ranked 3rd, followed by Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden (US), The Butchart Gardens (Canada), Kings Park and Botanic Garden (Australia), and Tivoli Gardens (Denmark).

The data highlights that seven out of the top 20 “most beautiful” public parks are in Europe.

Majorelle Garden – Jardin Majorelle – was designed by French artist Jacques Majorelle in 1923, and later bought by French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge in 1980. The garden has over 300 plant species from five continents.

The botanical garden has a variety of green plants and trees that decorate it and is surrounded by a beautiful blue and yellow art villa designed by Jacques Majorelle.

A Berber Museum in the center adds to the garden’s unique appeal.

In Majorelle’s blue art villa you will find a beautiful showcase of some 600 artifacts that illustrates Moroccan Amazigh’s heritage and history. After Yves Saint Laurent’s death in 2008, his ashes were scattered in the garden.

In 2017, the Yves Saint Laurent museum next to the garden opened its doors to the public, dedicated to the French designer’s legacy and showcasing hundreds of his works.
