Rabat – Morocco’s OCP Group, a global leader in the phosphate fertilizer market, received two prizes at the “2021 Leading Women Awards” in recognition of the group’s empowerment of female leaders.
The World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s (WBCSD) Award was presented to Hanae Mourchid, Director of Sustainability and Green Industrial Development at OCP Group, in a ceremony held on April 6 in Montreux, Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Hassina Moukhariq, International Portfolio Lead at the OCP Foundation received the WBCSD’s “Exemplary leadership during the COVID-19 crisis” award.
The Exemplary Leadership Award recognized women from businesses all over the world who had shown good leadership during the pandemic.
OCP announced the news on Thursday in a press release, saying, “Leading Women Awards highlight women’s leadership in WBCSD member companies who are working to contribute to a net-zero, sustainable, and equitable future.”
OCP has been a member of the WBCSD since 2019. The award testifies to the group’s commitment to boost female leadership for sustained economic growth.
The award is also part of the WBCSD’s engagement in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG5 which aims to promote gender equality by encouraging female participation in political and economic decision-making roles.
Winners are given a scholarship to join the WBCSD’s LEAP program, a training program to support women in taking leadership roles in their companies while ensuring sustainability of businesses, the press release concluded.
OCP Group in March received the first level of the Economic Dividends for Gender Equality (EDGE) certification for promoting gender equality.
The certification recognizes the creation of “equal career” opportunities for both female and male employees within the working environment.
Expressing satisfaction with the certification, OCP’s Chief Transformation Officer Nadia Fassi Fehri emphasized that the certification reflects OCP’s “long standing commitment” to promoting equal opportunity and diversity.
