Rabat – The Moroccan Olympic dressage rider Yessin Rahmouni has qualified for the FEI Dressage World Cup Final 2022, marking Morocco’s first participation in the competition.
Rahmouni’s qualification to the international competition follows his strong performance at the international dressage competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, said the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE) in a statement on April 6.
The FRMSE added that Rahmouni and his horse “All at Once” have passed the veterinary inspection and are ready for the competition.
The competition is taking place from April 6 to 10 in Leipzig, Germany.
Rahmouni has participated in two Olympic games. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with the horse “Floresco NRM” in the individual competition where he finished 49th.
He also competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo with the horse “All at Once”, finishing 44th in the individual competition.
Rahmouni is the first Moroccan and African dressage rider to qualify for the Olympic Games.
He also competed in the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, Normandy, with the horse “Floresco NRW”.
Rahmouni has secured himself a place among the top 100 dressage riders in the world, ranking 97th in the world ranking of the International Equestrian Federation, published in March 2022.
During the 2015 Youth Festival in Morocco, Rahmouni received the Wissam Al Moukafaa Al Wataniya of the Officer order from King Mohammed VI.
Rahmouni was born in September 1984. He took part in his first dressage competition at the age of 15. After trying both dressage and jumping, he eventually chose to pursue a professional career in dressage.
The Dressage World Cup Final is an annual international competition that has been featuring the greatest dressage horses and riders from across the world since 1985.
