Rabat – Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mehdi Bensaid signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MasterCard and the French company Credit Agricole to support youth-related projects.
At the forefront of these projects is the “Youth Pass” project, which will come into effect later this year in September.
Partners from the private and public sector in Morocco and abroad will be working on youth support, particularly through the Youth Pass project, one of the largest youth-oriented projects launched by the government.
Minister Bensaid announced plans to introduce the Youth Pass in November 2021, with an aim of allowing young Moroccans access movie theaters, museums, galleries, and other cultural spaces for special rates.
Bensaid said the ministry seeks to ensure equality, while having young Moroccans at the center of its interest to help them explore their full potential, with the main goal of boosting youth inclusion in economic, cultural, and sports fields.
The Moroccan minister has vowed on several occasions to create more spaces dedicated for young entrepreneurs and artists, to train and support them in acquiring funding for their projects.
He also spoke about plans to invest in establishing 150 youth centers, theaters, and cinemas across the country.
Morocco currently boasts around 25 cultural spaces, such as cinemas and theaters, but most of these are located in Casablanca and Rabat.
With the e-sports sector gaining increasing popularity in today’s tech-driven world, the Cultural ministry and the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games (FMRJE) have pledged to invest and implement large-scale opportunities in the sector.
Morocco will feature among participating countries in the FIFAe Nations Series 2022 tournament.
As a new country in the competition, Morocco will go directly to the online qualifiers of the 2022 tournament, set to take place from May 19 to 22, 2022.
