The consistent support from Morocco for Palestine has been highlighted once again on May 10 by Palestinian Labor Minister Nasri Abu Jaish.

During discussions in Ramallah with Moroccan Ambassador to Palestine Abderrahim Meziane, Abu Jaish spoke of King Mohammed’s VI’s actions in particular.

The Moroccan king’s efforts for the Palestinian cause can particularly be seen through his work as Chairman of the Al Quds Comittee. In an interview with MAP, the minister praised King Mohammed VI’s persistence in defending Al Quds and the Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation.

Such praise comes after similar comments from Bahrain’s foreign minister during talks with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s foreign affairs minister. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry echoed this appreciation for the committee’s efforts to maintain Al Quds’ legal and civil status.

Abu Jaish continued to highlight the contributions of Morocco as a whole in supporting the Palestinian cause and the rights of its people. During the talks, the ministers discussed cooperation on employment, training, and social security.

The Palestinian minister expressed his wish to introduce a legal framework to facilitate Palestinian student missions to Morocco. Such experience would improve the technical and educational skills currently needed in the Palestinian labor market.

Moroccan support was on display once again in April, in response to violence instigated by Israeli forces at Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Meziane held a meeting with President of Palestine’s National Council Rouhi Fatouh, in which Meziane offered continued support for Palestine’s right to an autonomous state.

During April 2022, around 300 Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces as they increased their raids at Al Aqsa, Islam’s third holiest site, during Ramadan last month.
