Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Transport announced on Saturday that 23 ships will operate rotations between Morocco and Spain as part of this year’s Operation Marhaba, an annual initiative seeking to facilitate the transit of Moroccans in Europe to their homeland for the summer holidays.
The operation traditionally starts in June and concludes in September.
As Spain represents 95% of travelers’ popular transit destinations during Operation Marhaba, Morocco will allocate 23 ferries, including 14 passenger ships, to connect the Moroccan port Tanger Med and Spanish ports, said a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment.
Two ships will be allocated to transporting goods, the ministry added, noting that the ships will make 47 daily trips, with 40,000 passenger capacity and 11,000 cars. The number will represent a 4% increase compared to 2019.
