Rabat – Organized by the Oriental Fashion Show (OFS), the first edition of the Morocco Fashion Week has kicked off in the red city of Marrakech, showcasing and promoting Moroccan and international designers.

Speaking during the event’s press conference, the founder of OFS Hind Joudar said that Morocco Fashion Week is the accumulation of 15 years of experience with fashion experts from Europe, Asia, and across the world. OFS has organized 46 large-scale fashion shows, including recent editions in Paris and Milan.

Held at the up-scale Mandarin Oriental Marrakech hotel, the ongoing Morocco Fashion Week will showcase the work of more than 20 haute couture, Caftan, and ready-to-wear fashion houses from different nationalities.

The event offers a program with varied activities, including workshops and cocktail parties, as well as a red carpet event featuring celebrities and distinguished fashion profiles.

Morocco is the “ideal destination” for such an international event, Joudar told Morocco World News, stressing that Marrakech, home to many international cultural events, is “a city of art, fashion, and history.”

Highlighting the richness and beauty of Morocco’s cultural heritage, Joudar stressed the importance of valorizing and preserving this national treasure that inspires Moroccan artisans and fashion designers.

The textiles and clothing sector in Morocco makes up 22% of job opportunities, giving the country “the potential to export its style,” Joudar added.

This event is “timeless,” she said, explaining that “it allows us to discover the past through traditions, the present through creation, and the future through the development of this industry,” which is part of the mission of the Morocco Fashion Show.

She indicated that the event is not only fashion-oriented. It also aims to promote Morocco as a tourist destination and create job opportunities to improve the country’s economy by promoting fashion, as well as the hospitality and culinary sectors.

“Fashion has great power,” said Raffaella Godi, President of Milan fashion week, stressing that through fashion, this project can “open up boundaries” between people from different cultures and backgrounds.

While celebrating the success and legacy the OFS has created over the past 15 years, Godi is looking forward to sharing “the beauty of this experience” with the guests and participants.

The ongoing three-day event has garnered international press coverage from various fashion capitals such as Paris, London, Milan, Istanbul, and Dubai.
