Rabat – Morocco’s government has adopted draft order No. 2.22.194 which establishes the National Committee for Gender Equality and Women’s Advancement on Thursday.
Presented by Aawatif Hayar, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, this initiative is part of the government’s focus on women’s concerns in its government program 2021-2026, particularly on attaining gender equality and empowering women in diverse sectors.
By providing a framework that aims to assure harmony and convergence between the numerous projects and efforts, as well as value the gains, this project intends to improve gender inequality in Morocco.
This framework aims to serve as a primary source for proposing solutions and providing national answers to the total problems related to the protection and advancement of women’s rights. It aims to do so through monitoring, evaluation, and the mobilization of all stakeholders, from government sectors, national institutions, soil groups, the private sector, and civil society associations.
The goal of this initiative is to establish a national committee for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
This new national mechanism intends to provide a space for new diverse projects and foster harmony among various stakeholders.
Gender equality and anti-discrimination efforts are making steady progress to improve Morocco’s human rights history.
The 2011 constitution has provided fertile ground for this trend to flourish, despite explicitly recognizing the importance of achieving gender equality, advancing the reality of women’s rights and protecting them, and supporting the status of gender equality in Morocco.
