Rabat – King Mohammed VI received a phone call on Saturday from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), who inquired about the monarch’s health after he tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Saudi news agency SPA, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia was reassured about the health of the King of Morocco, and he wished the Moroccan monarch well.
For his part, King Mohammed VI expressed his thanks to the Crown Prince for his “good brotherly feelings,” SPA reported.
In addition to MBS, King of Jordan Abdullah II also called King Mohammed VI to inquire about his health.
The King’s doctor announced that the monarch tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, but reassured citizens that the King of Morocco exhibited no symptoms.
Morocco has seen a marked upsurge in COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks.
Instead of dozens of cases, the North African country recorded 1,956 COVID infections in 24 hours on Saturday.
The number brought the total COVID-19 cases in Morocco to 84,732.
Active COVID-19 cases moved from fewer than 400 cases to 10,323 cases with the significant increase in the number of new infections recorded daily.
Fatalities have reached 16,086 since the outbreak of the pandemic in March in Morocco.
Recently, Morocco’s Ministry of Health called on citizens to continue to adhere to the health protocol, warning that the fight against COVID-19 is not over and emphasizing the need to continue to abide by social distancing and the wearing of masks in public.
