Rabat – Given the success of Operation Marhaba 2022, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Staying Abroad, confirmed that the early findings indicate an increase in the number of Moroccans living abroad within the last two years.

At a press conference after the Council of Government meeting on Thursday, Mustapha Baitas, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, referenced Bourita’s statements.

Baitas recalled that Bourita had highlighted Operation Marhaba 2022’s five main goals: guaranteeing smooth transit, constructing service infrastructures, providing safe and secure conditions, ensuring communication, and offering administrative support in order to accept arrivals in the best possible conditions.

The Moroccan foreign minister also noted that the 2022 version of Operation Marhaba to welcome Moroccans from throughout the world has been operational since June 5, under the instructions of King Mohammed VI.

He emphasized that the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity enacts high royal directives and plays an important role in the collaborative process with the other partners.

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity launched Operation Marhaba in 2001 to assist Moroccans living abroad in their return to their hometown. It is a one-of-a-kind mechanism of bilateral and regional collaboration between Morocco and a number of nations.

The aim of the annual Operation Marhaba program — which is organized by the Moroccan government yearly between June and September — is to help facilitate the transit of Moroccans residing abroad to their countries of residence during the summer season.

The campaign’s 2022 edition is set to be characterized by the implementation of a worldwide welcome system, including entrances in Morocco, France, Italy, and Spain.
