Rabat – Morocco’s OCP Foundation signed on Monday an agreement with the Senegalese Agency for Reforestation and the Great Green Wall (ASERGMV), to support biodiversity programs to the tune of 1.4 billion CFA francs ($1.46 million).
The funding will go towards supporting local community agricultural development, as well as to building ASERGMV’s capabilities to run various programs with the main objective of regenerating local biodiversity, especially by protecting local environments such as forests.
The ASERGMV has helped ameliorate diets in local Senegalese populations through its agricultural programs by better meeting their food needs through agricultural programs.
In addition to its main missions of reforestation and supporting agriculture, the organization also supports local social programs by providing the population with medicine and supporting stronger schooling systems.
The OCP Foundation has been working on supporting 13 sustainable development goals in Africa, out of the 17 listed by the UN, focusing on education quality, social and economic equality, and eliminating hunger and poverty, among others.
Earlier this month, the foundation released its 2021 report, reiterating a commitment to helping achieve sustainable life in Africa, and highlighting that more than 77,000 individuals benefited from its 160 programs and initiatives launched in the past year.
