The collapse of a metal pediment of a cafe in Casablanca left three dead and two others injured on Wednesday.
The three people who lost their lives were all male. They were transported in serious condition to Ibn Rochd hospital, where they passed away.
The Casablanca-Settat Regional Civil Protection Command said the tragic incident caused two minor injuries among two people who were standing near the cafe as they watched a football match.
The two injured were also evacuated to the same health facility to receive the necessary medical attention.
The regional civil protection command said it dispatched four ambulances and three vans to the scene once it received an alert regarding the incident.
Casablanca has in recent years witnessed a series of similar tragedies, causing uproar among Moroccans.
Last year, a roof of a traditional communal oven collapsed, killing one and injured four others in the Casablanca-Anfa district.
Another incident in the same year claimed the lives of three victims, including a child.
Also in 2021, heavy rainfall and floods caused the collapse of a building in Casablanca.
