Rabat – Emirati Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced on Tuesday the launch of the Arab Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (Al) Challenge in 11 Arab countries, including Morocco.
Organized in partnership with IEEE TEMS and Global Innovation & Entrepreneurship company, Arab IoT & AI challenge is a capacity-building program for the benefit of high school students, senior university students, and startups that have innovative ideas for projects in the fields of IoT & AI and digitalization-related areas.
The challenge provides young innovators with pre-incubation programs, offering guidance and mentorship to develop their business and technical abilities.
Morocco IoT & AI Challenge aims to stimulate and assist in building an innovative Moroccan economy through planning, facilitating, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of IoT & AI and their applications.
The other participating countries are the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Tunisia, Palestine, Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan, Algeria, Bahrain, and Oman.
The finals of the competition will take place next October during GITEX Technology Week in Dubai, after the completion of the local finals in each participating country.

“The Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are the evolution that will dramatically change all existing industries,” Arab IoT & AI Challenge said on their website.
Last year, three Moroccan students from the National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (INPT) won second place in the Arab IoT & AI Challenge at the Gitex Technology Week in Dubai.
The three students — Mayssae Chimi, Hajar Ait Iddir, and Kaoutar El-Ghaich — designed NoFoasty, a mobile application for kitchen users, catering, and restaurant service managers. No Foasfty implements Artificial Intelligence models to reduce food waste and improve food quality.
Africa IoT & AI Challenge, an expansion of the Arab IoT & AI Challenge, targets senior university students and startups across Africa with innovative project ideas in the areas of IoT and AI.
