Rabat – Morocco will participate in the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games with a delegation of 130 athletes. The event will take place between June 25 and July 6, 2022, in Oran, Algeria.
According to the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM), the Moroccan delegation includes 86 male athletes and 44 female athletes who will compete in 15 sports. The Moroccan athletes will be accompanied by 48 supervisors, coaches, and doctors.
The sporting event will include competitions in 24 sports disciplines, including boxing, cycling, fencing, football, judo, wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, and tennis.
On June 7, 15, and 16, the CNOM will organize information sessions for the benefit of the Moroccan delegation, “in order to explain the special system put in place to ensure travel to Oran, as well as the organizational directives to follow.”
The CNOM’s statement includes a guide containing the Oran 2022 program, the list of the names of the Moroccan participants, the preliminary composition of the delegation, as well as the provisional program of the Moroccan delegation.
Held every four years, the Mediterranean Games are a multi-sport competition in which athletes from all the countries of the Mediterranean compete in a variety of sports.
As the most important multidisciplinary sporting event in the region, the 2022 Oran sports game expects the participation of 26 nations and more than 3,000 athletes.

The Mediterranean Village, located in the southwestern part of Oran, will accommodate the participating athletes and team officials. The village will offer the participants 48 sites for competitions and training sessions to take place.
Last month, the Oran 2022 organizing committee announced the list of venues where the competitions will take place, including the new 40,000-seat Olympic stadium, which will also host the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games.
“Oran is ready to welcome its guests by offering them a pleasant stay at the height of expectations, next summer, in 2022,” says Oran 2022 on their website.
Egypt hosted the first edition of the Mediterranean Games in 1951 in the city of Alexandria.
Morocco’s record in the Mediterranean Games stands at 69 gold medals, including 77 silver medals and 99 bronze medals.
