Rabat – During the North Africa Com digital event held between July 19-20, Huawei expressed its commitment to 5G technologies and industrial digitization in the region.
Speaking at the event, Philip Song, Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei Carrier BG, the tech giant’s IT solutions arm, argued that the Chinese tech giant’s 5A strategy for North Africa reflects its commitment to play a part in the rapid digitalization of African economies.
According to research conducted by Huawei, every $1 invested in 5G can yield back $26 to emerging economies by 2030. Song also noted that some regions can leapfrog the 4G technology to benefit from 5G.
In a press release, Huawei suggested a “5A” model for 5G in North Africa.
“5A” stands for affordable devices, amazing 5G service, attractive tariff plans, agile marketing, and advanced networks.
Song further emphasized a commitment towards business customers, pledging to maintain a high level of research and development within the company to continue building 5G and optical technology infrastructures.
The booming digital economy in Africa can also help accelerate industry digitization, the company asserted, noting that North African countries built their digital transformations into national strategies.
Many experts have asserted that African nations could be able to leapfrog the traditional industrial revolution and jump straight to Industry 4.0, which uses the internet and artificial intelligence to keep various industrial processes and institutions connected.
Huawei was awarded the Connectivity Champion Award at the North Africa Com digital event, and the company vowed to continue to provide attractive value propositions for Africa’s embrace of the digital economy.
