Rabat – Morocco’s Royal Air Force ordered a fleet of H135 Helicopters from Airbus for military training missions.
Airbus announced the news in a communique, describing its helicopter fleet as “reliable and cost-efficient.”
Airbus Head of Africa and the Middle East Arnaud Montalvo said that the fleet is also ideally “suited to transitioning to more complex aircraft,” stressing that his company is certain that the H135s will provide assistance to the Royal Air Force.
“We look forward to bringing them the best support in cooperation with our strategic partner Heliconia with its entry into service in the country,” he added.
Airbus said the contract contains an “extensive support package,” including the delivery of flight training devices.
The training program will help the Royal Air Force take “full advantage of the H135’s multi-mission capabilities.”
Airbus said that H135 has many customers across the world, including in the UK, Australia, Japan, and Germany.
According to Airbus, the H135 helicopters have been delivered to over 60 countries.
“With over 300 operators, these versatile rotorcraft have flown 5.5 million hours (as of 2021),” the company’s website notes.
Morocco has been renewing its commitment to upgrade its military’s capacities and skills.
In June, Defense Web reported that Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces is expecting to receive Sherpa military-grade armored vehicles as part of a military agreement signed between Morocco and France two years ago.
