Laayoune – Morocco has secured six medals in the latest African kickboxing championship in Johannesburg, South Africa.
During the martial arts’ competition, which ran from August 26 to 28, Moroccan athletes won one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
Anas Al-Jazouli managed to win the gold medal in the U-60 kg weight class.
Al-Jazouli achieved this feat after defeating the South African representative, Molele Tebats, during the final.
By winning this African event, Al-Jazouli sealed his qualification to the 2023 Kickboxing World Combat Games that will be played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
As for the silver medalists, Hamza Haimer won the first with a victory over South Africa’s Van Rooyen Willie in the U-71 kg division, whereas Kawtar Baarab was awarded the second silver medal after defeating the Malawi Sinani Hajira in the U-65 kg class.
Additionally, Moroccan martial artists won three bronze medals in three different weight classes. Youssef Anzad won the first in the U-81 kg, Oumaim Belwarath got the second in the U-48 kg, and Roumaissae Bouarourou secured the third in the U-56 kg.

Morocco has achieved several kickboxing wins this year.
In May, the country also won several medals in the 7th International Kickboxing World Cup in Istanbul.
Moroccan athletes won one gold, one silver, and seven bronze, totaling up to nine medals in the Turkish city.
Moreover, the world-renowned Moroccan kickboxer Jamal Ben Saddik recently made headlines after he defeated the Romanian Benjamin Adegbuyi with a knock-out on August 20.
