Casablanca – Morocco’s city of Dakhla will host the gastronomic event the Official Tournament of African Chefs on September 9 and 10. Organized by Rahal Event, the event is part of the Bocuse d’Or Africa and the African Pastry Cup.

With the participation of 200 famous chefs, this culinary event will bring together eight teams of African chefs from Morocco, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, and Mauritius, the organizer’s joint statement detailed.

The participating teams will compete for a podium spot at the Bocuse d’Or and World Pastry Cup, which will be held in Lyon next January as part of the International Catering Exhibition (Shira).

The Bocuse d’Or is a biennial global chef championship. It is the world’s most renowned gastronomy competition, which brings together the best chefs from five continents.

The Official Tournament of African Chefs is the culmination of more than 15 years of work that aims to promote Moroccan and African chefs.

It is a continental conference that has helped Morocco to distinguish itself worldwide and be at the forefront among the top specialists in the field, the statement noted.

According to Rahal Event’s communique, this culinary event will promote Dakhla and its local products, strengthening the kingdom’s position as a destination famous for its people’s hospitality.

Morocco’s participation and organization of such an event aims to help establish Morocco as a high-level gastronomic reference, ranking first among the best specialists in the field, the statement concluded.
