Casablanca – Three of the eight Moroccan handicraft companies that participated in the renowned US event New York Now have won awards, including the show’s best product.
During the event, which took place from 14 to 17 August at the Javits Center in New York, t the firms, all founded and directed by women, were assessed based on market criteria and standards in the United States, according to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy and Solidarity.
“Thanks to products inspired by the exceptional richness of Moroccan heritage and expertise, the Moroccan participation in this prestigious exhibition has experienced a real craze among key market players (professional buyers, specifiers, designers, etc.),” the statement added.
Among the 2,500 brands and manufacturers present, five of the eight Moroccan enterprises were finalists in their respective categories.
Three of them won the first prize in their category, including the most prestigious, the award for the show’s best product.

The eight enterprises that participated in the Moroccan Pavilion received logistical assistance to enter the US market as part of the Ministry’s efforts.
The support for the event aims to promote Moroccan handicrafts and grow exports of its goods to foreign markets, particularly the US market.
The Us is currently Morocco’s largest export market, accounting for more than 36% of Moroccan craft exports by the end of July 2022.
New York Now is North America’s leading trade show for gifts, home decoration, accessories, and design-related items.
Organized twice a year, the show brings together producers, brands, buyers, and designers from over 40 countries, attracting hundreds of worldwide suppliers and buyers from niche retail locations.
