Laayoune – Morocco’s national football team is ranked 23rd in the latest FIFA ranking, maintaining its position as the best Arab national team worldwide.
Morocco is the still top-ranked Arab nation in the FIFA world rankings despite dropping a spot, followed by Tunisia (30th), Egypt (40th), Algeria (41st), and Qatar (48th).
The Atlas Lions fell by a single rank from their previous position, which is now held by Iran.
The ranking system published by the official FIFA website indicated that Morocco’s points decreased from 1558.90 to 1558.35. By retaining its 1558.64 point total, Iran was able to surpass the North African team in the ranking and secure the 22nd position.
On the African front, Africa Cup of Nations champion Senegal has maintained its status as the best national team on the continent, five positions ahead of Morocco in 18th place.
The top five national football teams have not changed since the previous FIFA ranking list, with Brazil continuing to hold the top spot, followed by Belgium, Argentina, France, and England.

FIFA also ranked the Atlas Lionesses in the 76th spot of the world’s best women football teams, moving up a rank from the June 2022 list.
The Moroccan national team will play against Chile and Paraguay in September, in the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Seville. This will give FIFA officials a chance to observe the Moroccan team’s performance and possibly alter its position on the upcoming World Ranking list, which will be released on October 6, 2022.
