Casablanca – The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) announced today, Wednesday, that Jeddah Islamic Port has made significant efforts to promote trade with Morocco and boost Saudi exports by establishing six shipping lines and important services.
These shipping lines contributed to a 117% increase in the volume of commerce exchanged between Saudi Arabia and Morocco, the news agency noted.
According to APA, this initiative is part of the Saudi Ports Authority’s (Mawani) strategic aim of increasing the competitiveness of Saudi ports in terms of investment and logistical services.
Aiming to connect Saudi Arabia’s ports with the rest of the world, the shipping lines with Morocco intend to support both importers and exporters.

Saudi Arabia and Morocco have repeatedly declared their intention to reopen the direct marine link, which was created in 2013, in order to improve commercial ties.
Thus, the Federation of Saudi Chambers recently signed an agreement with a shipping company to establish a direct maritime line connecting the two countries.
The launch of these six new shipping lines connecting Moroccan ports; as well as improving basic services in the Jeddah Islamic Port is part of the two nations’ goal to strengthen trade ties.
Jeddah Islamic Port is a Saudi Arabian port on the Red Sea, positioned in the heart of an international maritime route connecting the east and west via the Suez Canal.
It is the first port on the seacoast in terms of transit nautical trade and container and commodities transshipment, and the Arab world’s second-largest and busiest port.
