Relaxation, Nature, and Charm: The Top Seven Destinations in Morocco

From swimming in the salty waves of the Mediterranean to overcoming challenging hikes across the Atlas mountains, Morocco has something for everyone! For all nature lovers and travel enthusiasts, here are seven Moroccan destinations to fulfill various preferences and needs.

Summer, Swimming, and Rest

Waterfalls of Akchour

Located a mere hour and a half from the northern city of Tetouan, the waterfalls of Akchour are the hidden gem of the region. Its cascading falls and peaceful atmosphere are guaranteed to put you in a trance! As an added bonus, you can find various artisanal sectors nearby or even visit Chefchaouen, also known as Morocco’s Blue Pearl city.

Bine El Ouidane

Although you might originally overlook this small town located in the Beni-Mellal Khenifra region, Bine El Ouidane’s charm is unmeasurable. In a fitting embodiment of its name, which translates to “in between the lakes,” Bine El Ouidane boasts several lakes for tourists to frolic in and relax besides, as they unwind from a long day of traveling.

An Activity-Lover’s Dream

Terre D’Amanar

Craving a challenge? The popular reserve Terre D’Amanar is the perfect location to test  the limits of your physical strength, as it offers various circuits that include scaling ropes, zip lining at great heights, and more. Located 40 km from Marrakech, Terre D’Amanar can also allow you to personalize your circuits and choose your activities depending on their difficulty.

Jbel Toubkal

Be one with nature and follow the tracks of Jbel Toubkal, a magnificent mountain range in the Atlas region. Whether hiking with a group or attempting to go solo, the starting point of this climb, which typically takes two days, begins in Imlil, a small village in the Atlas mountains. Although strenuous, the hike will offer mesmerizing sights and a panoramic view.

Family-Friendly Options

Paradise Valley

Paradise Valley is located 20 km from the southern city of Agadir. With incredibly clear water and small valleys perfect for cliff jumping, this sight undoubtedly lives up to its name. It is the perfect location for a day out with family, its crystal water and lively vegetation act as a sanctuary to all those seeking rest and relaxation.

Merzouga Desert

From watching the sun set on a sand dune to riding quads through the desert bumps, the Merzouga desert is a must for anyone visiting Morocco. Fill your day with endless activities such as a group camel ride with loved ones, a unique Berber lunch experience, or simply galavanting across the desert. There is never a dull moment in the desert!

Dakhla Lagoon

Located in the south of Morocco, Dakhla is home to various adventures. Specifically, its lagoon is host to a myriad of activities. It is famous for hosting professional surfers as they tackle their next challenge, but is also considered beginner friendly.

In the lagoon, tourists may also spend the day trying to perfect the art of kitesurfing and water sailing. Yet, many also spend the day promenading on the sand and watching the mesmerizing sights.
