Rabat – Morocco’s Prince Moulay Rachid arrived in London on Sunday to represent King Mohammed VI at the funeral for the late Queen Elizabeth II.

He was welcomed at the London Stansted airport by a special representative of the UK’s King Charles III, Morocco’s Ambassador to the UK, and the Moroccan Consul General in London.

Tens of thousands of people lined up for hours on end over the weekend to get a chance to file past the queen’s coffin in London. Being the UK’s longest-reigning monarch, the queen’s funeral is expected to be one of the most viewed events in British history.

Leaders from around the world are expected to be in attendance, with over 500 politicians and royals expected to attend from all around the world. Major world leaders such as US President Joe Biden have already started arriving in London as well.

Following the queen’s death, King Mohammed VI sent the UK’s Charles III a condolence message, mourning the loss of a “special great friend.” The Moroccan monarch also sent the UK’s new king a congratulations message following his coronation, expressing satisfaction with the relations between the two kingdoms.
