Casablanca – The northern Moroccan city of Tangier will host the 7th edition of the Automobile Meetings Tangier-Med (AMT) from October 26 to 28, with the aim of reviving Morocco’s automotive industry.

Organized by the Moroccan Association for the Automotive and Construction Industry (AMICA), the event is set to be an opportunity to present the latest innovations in the field of automotive and investment opportunities and exchange between Morocco and Europe.

According to the organizers, this professional event is meant to serve as an exhibition platform for the high-quality and reliability of the Moroccan automotive sector. It also serves as a meeting place for operators in the Euro-Mediterranean automobile sector.

“The 2022 edition of the AMT will be an opportunity to take stock of several topics that make the news in the Moroccan automotive industry,” said the vice president of AMICA, Rachid Machou, at a press conference earlier this month.

He detailed, “In this case, the repercussions of the COVID pandemic, the change in the Supply Chain, the difficulties of supply, and the impact of the high cost of energy on the Moroccan industrial sector.”

While the global health crisis has considerably slowed the upward trend of the automotive industry, Machou noted, it has also allowed the sector to restart on good footing and develop further. “This is the first edition after the forced pause imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said of AMICA’s upcoming event.

The program of this year’s edition of the Automobile Meetings Tangier-Med includes meetings between professionals, as well as conferences and round tables led by experts in the automotive sector.

The event will bring together an audience composed of major players in the automotive industry at national and international levels, the organizers noted, adding it will also emphasize the willingness of Morocco to engage in the global dynamics of the fight against climate change through the implementation of actions to decarbonize the automotive industry.
