Rabat- Cuban-Spanish Actress Ana De Armas stood out in a floor-length gown inspired by Moroccan Caftan as she made her way to the screening of the movie ‘Blonde’ at the 48th Deauville American Film Festival in France last Friday.
De Armas donned a white floor-length gown with a belt, long chiffon sleeves, and gold stone embroidery that was profoundly influenced by the Moroccan Caftan. Images of the Cuban- Spanish actress made the rounds on social media and grabbed headlines in Morocco and beyond.
The actress was attending the Deauville American Film Festival for the premiere of her latest Netflix film ‘Blond’ where she stars as Marilyn Monroe. The film, a historical psychological drama, explores the public and private life of Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe, based on a work of biographical fiction by Joyce Carol Oates.

The Cuban-Spanish Actress’s performance on Blonde earned her the Hollywood Rising-Star Award, a prize given in recognition of “the talent, passion and commitment of actors and actresses on the path to creation.’’ Previous recipients of the award include Ryan Gosling (2011), Jessica Chastain (2011), and Daniel Radcliffe (2016).
Ana De Armas was overcome with emotion while receiving the prize, expressing her gratitude and paid homage to her grandfather saying: “She grew up with very little but had a grandfather who was fond of cinema.’’
Moroccan caftans are spreading rapidly into the mainstream fashion industry as their international appeal draws the attention of many content creators. A host of celebrities and renowned designers are increasingly embracing this traditional garment across the world.
