Casablanca – The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has welcomed during the 2022-2023 academic year nearly 1,000 new students in all fields, according to the university’s President Hicham El Habti.
The total number of students at the UM6P amounts to 4,500 between initial training, doctoral cycle, and specific training, said El Habti in a statement to the press.
“We have also launched our Faculty of Medical Sciences, 100% in English, pending the opening of our University Hospital,” the UM6P’s president noted.
“In addition, there are various applied scientific research programs that form the basis of UM6P, and which today enable us to provide innovative solutions to issues of great importance, such as agriculture, energy, climate, artificial intelligence, etc.,” he continued.
These statements came on the sidelines of the signing of the energy cooperation agreement between UM6P and Bar-Ilan University on September 29 in Israel.

The two institutions’ agreement aims for the establishment of a binational research program, including 33 Israeli and 20 Moroccan research groups from other universities.
It will bring together energy professionals and researchers from key Israeli and Moroccan academic institutions to explore local and global renewable energy solutions.
According to El Habti, the agreement aims to meet the challenges of energy transition in both countries by improving exchanges between scientists in the fields of research, education and entrepreneurship, and developing an effective mode of bilateral collaboration.
“This is part of the partnerships we have established with many universities in Israel to strengthen scientific and academic exchanges, and to position UM6P among the leading universities in the fields of technology and innovation in Africa,” he concluded.
