Rabat – The Moroccan Court of Accounts and the Netherlands’ Court of Audit signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday in Rabat, under the cooperation program “Sharaka 2”.

This initiative, aiming to provide a platform for work between the two parties in areas of common interest, follows the previous success of the “Sharaka 1,” which was concluded between the two institutions in 2016 for a period of five years, said the Court of Audit in a statement.

The agreement concerns several topics, including performance audits, reforms related to public finance, IT audits, integrity, as well as monitoring the implementation of sustainable development goals.

First President of the Court of Accounts Zineb El Adaoui recalled, in a speech, the context and the various reasons that led to the conclusion of this agreement.

Namely, the willingness of both parties to establish a framework for sharing experiences and best practices in the areas of performance audits, as well as audit and communication.

The agreement seeks to enshrine the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance in the management of public finances, in accordance with international standards adopted in the field of financial control.

Vice President of the Dutch Court of Audit Ewout Irrgang emphasized the importance of promoting the work of the two institutions in both countries simultaneously, particularly in the areas of data analysis and performance audit.

This promotion would contribute to the improvement of their policies to support citizens and business development, and to the enhancement of the positioning of Supreme Audit Institutions and their communication through the publication of their work, added Irrgang.

Both parties have expressed their readiness to establish practical mechanisms for the implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding.

They also expressed commitment to achieving its objectives in a way that serves the Supreme Audit Institution in Morocco and Netherlands, concluded the statement.
