Rabat – Aiming to develop the economic and trade relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom, a delegation of the British Members of the Parliament (MPs) visited the Tanger Med Port on Thursday.
After the signing of the Association Agreement between Morocco and the United Kingdom, the visit of this delegation represents the first trip of a British parliamentary delegation to an economic and trade site in Morocco.
Organized by the Morocco’s embassy in London, at the invitation of the General Confederation of Moroccan Businesses (CGEM), this visit was an opportunity for British MPs to learn about major projects launched in Morocco, and to highlight the importance of port infrastructure for international trade, as well as the role of Tanger Med in this regard.
Tanger Med Director Rachid Houari and other Tanger Med Group officials were also present, and were in charge of introducing the environment to the delegation.

The delegation learned about the port’s facilities and organization, as well as its role as a key global logistics gateway, and as an example of integration into world trade.
The meeting was marked by a presentation on the Tanger Med port complex delivered by Houari, in which he emphasized on the importance of this major project, initiated by King Mohammed VI, reviewing the various stages of its development.
Houari noted that Tanger Med’s leading role in Africa and the Mediterranean emphasizes its essential role as a transshipment hub.
