Rabat – Ivanka Trump, daughter, and advisor to former US President Donald J Trump, announced that she will not be part of her father’s attempt to retake the White House in the upcoming 2024 US presidential elections.
Ivanka made the statement earlier today in an Instagram post, on the same day Trump officially announced that he will compete to be the Republican nominee in the 2024 presidential race. “I do not plan to be involved in politics. While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena,” Ivanka’s post reads.
“I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments,” she adds.
Trump launched his bid on Tuesday night from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Accompanied by members of his family during the announcement including his wife, Melania, his son Eric, and Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner, Ivanka was noticeably absent.
The news of Trump’s return as a Republican candidate comes amid his party’s sub-optimal performance during the mid-term congressional elections. Historically, congress in the midterm swings away from the party controlling the White House; the party that runs the White House almost never holds on to the majority in congress following the mid-term elections.
However, this year, the Republican party failed to gain the majority of seats needed to control the Senate or the House of Representatives. Several of the Trump-endorsed nominees were defeated, hurting the former president’s standing in the face of his likely rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
