Rabat – Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch has tested positive for COVID-19.
The government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, announced the news on Monday, November 21.
Due to COVID-19, Akhannouch will be unable to attend the plenary session devoted to general policy issues on Tuesday. Baitas informed the President of the Chamber of Councillors of Akhannouch’s inability to attend the session.
The number of COVID-19 cases witnessed an increase compared to the previous few months, where only few cases were reported on a daily basis.
On Sunday, Morocco reported 49 new cases, while active cases reached 811 as of Sunday.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Morocco since its outbreak in March 2020 stands at 1,267,315, including 16,283 deaths and 1,250,221 recoveries as of Sunday.
