Rabat – Agadir police have denied allegations of negligence after a woman claimed in a viral social media video that officers failed to arrest the people accused of assaulting her husband with a bladed weapon.

Agadir Police released a statement on Friday saying they reviewed all records and legal procedures related to the case to clarify the facts while respecting the confidentiality of the ongoing judicial and administrative investigations.

According to the police, the incident involved a mutual assault between the woman’s husband and a group of individuals. The case was handled by police in the Inzegane security district, where they opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.

Police said investigators collected statements from all parties involved in the incident.

Based on the results of the investigation and following instructions from the public prosecutor, authorities placed two people in police custody, including the woman’s husband and the individual who was directly involved in the physical altercation with him.

The statement said this contradicts the woman’s claims that police had failed to take action against those involved.

Police added that the investigation also included questioning the remaining people connected to the case in order to determine all the circumstances and background of the incident.

According to the statement, all those involved were referred to the competent judicial authorities on the morning of Friday.

Agadir Police stated that all procedures were carried out in accordance with the law and professional standards, rejecting the allegations of misconduct made in the viral video.
