Rabat – Ahead of the anticipated match between Morocco and Canada in the World Cup Round of 16, BeIN Sports shared a video highlighting the common denominator between the two teams after qualifying in dramatic fashion.
Canada‘s national team secured a place in the Round of 16 after beating South Africa 1-0 in stoppage time. The victory secured Canada’s place in the Round of 16 for the first time in history after two previous World Cup appearances in 1986 and 2022.
Morocco’s qualification proved equally dramatic.
The Atlas Lions appeared to be heading toward elimination after Cody Gakpo gave the Netherlands the lead in the 72nd minute. Issa Diop scored a stoppage-time equalizer in the 91st minute to keep Morocco’s hopes alive.
The game stayed tied through extra time before going to a penalty shootout, where Yassine Bounou confirmed his abilities once again and sent the National team to the next round.
With that, both teams head to the next round sharing similar paths of fighting till the last minute to secure their qualification. Fans will be highly anticipating another memorable World Cup encounter.
The two sides will lock horns at 6:00 pm Moroccan time on Saturday.
