Rabat – Morocco and Yemen have emphasized their determination to boost bilateral ties and advance cooperation at different levels.

The two governments conveyed their determination today during talks between Yemeni Foreign Affairs Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak and his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the ninth Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) held in Fez.

In a statement to the press following the meeting, Bourita reiterated Morocco’s “clear position,” supporting the role of the presidential council and of legitimate government.

Bourita also emphasized Morocco’s support for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Yemen, condemning all terrorist attempts by Houthis group and “those who support it.”

Bourita suggested that the resolution to the Yemeni crisis “must be based on dialogue,” stressing the importance of respecting legality in Yemen.

“Morocco will always stand alongside Yemen, in accordance with the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI,” Bourita concluded.

For his part, Awad Bin Mubarak emphasized his country’s “constant” support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, noting Yemen’s determination to boost bilateral ties with Rabat.

“Yemen reiterates its constant and solid position of principal towards the issue of interest to Morocco, and at their head the question of the territorial integrity of the kingdom,” the Yemeni official told the press.

The official also reaffirmed his country’s determination to coordinate with Morocco as part of international efforts, seeking to ensure peace and prosperity in the region.

Awad bin Mubarak also congratulated Morocco for its success as it hosted the Alliance of Civilizations forum, saying that the event in the North African country confirms the “centrality” of the Arab-Muslim civilization.

The forum convened high-level officials from across the world, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The event aimed at discussing themes that seek to address challenges for ensuring global peace and intercultural dialogue.
