During a press conference in Rabat on Monday, the official recalled the recent opening of an embassy in Morocco’s capital Rabat. El Salvador’s Foreign Affairs Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco chaired the inauguration of the new embassy, which is the first embassy for the country in Africa.
“The opening of the first embassy of El Salvador in Africa, here in Rabat, is a living testimony to the excellence of bilateral relations,” Hill Tinoco said in October, stressing that the opening reflects a “historic moment in Salvadoran foreign policy.”
Ulloa echoed Hill Tinoco’s sentiment, emphasizing that both countries are becoming closer and seeking to work together to strengthen ties.
“We are filled with gratitude for the technical and financial support that King Mohammed VI is giving to the development of projects such as the development of new technologies in El Salvador,” Ulloa said.

El Salvador and Morocco expressed determination to strengthen diplomatic ties in 2019 after the central American country withdrew recognition of the self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
The decision came during the official visit of Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita to El Salvador that year.
During the visit, El Salvador’s government expressed support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty as well as the country’s Autonomy Plan as the only serious and credible solution to end the dispute over Western Sahara.
Since then, the two countries emphasized the importance of cooperating together to strengthen bilateral relations.
