Rabat – Nearly 357,080,623 passengers have used the Casablanca tramway in the past decade, Casa Transport has revealed in a statement highlighting the company’s achievements in its 10th year of existence.

With its 5 agencies, 38 active retailers, 259 automatic ticket vending machines (ATVM), and 200 support agents in stations, Casablanca Tramway connects passengers to multiple stations including, Ain Sebaa, Casa Voyageurs, Casa Port, Oasis and Casa Sud, the statement detailed.

The public transportation company sold 11,337,647 tickets over the past ten years, planted 2245 trees near its tramlines, and relied on the services of 624 agents to assist travelers.

The tramway has also traveled 27,649,113 kilometers in the past decade, undergone 15,000 corrective maintenance operations to ensure high service quality, deployed 79 services, and served 13 districts.

The company has become an integral part of the everyday life of residents in the biggest Moroccan city, Morocco’s news agency (MAP) said in a commemorative tweet.

“Since its inception on December 12, 2012, the Casablanca Tramway has gradually evolved into a true common heritage for the city with a social, economic, and cultural dimension, rather than merely a mode of transportation,” MAP tweeted.

In the statement commemorating its tenth anniversary, Casa Tramway announced the launch of a campaign aimed at celebrating Casablanca residents. Called “CASAWAY by Casatramway,” the initiative seeks to further deepen “the intense ties that bind the city and its inhabitants to the tramway,” it added.

In May, France-based Colas Rail secured a €15 million contract for building low-voltage systems for lines T3 and T4 of the Casablanca Tramway.

The two lines aim to reinforce  public transport services in the city. Line T3 will cover 14 kilometers of double-track platform and 20 new stations while line T4, also a double-track platform, will have 19 stations.
