Rabat – The performance of young attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss’ in the Morocco-Croatia game in the World Cup third place-playoff has seemingly put him on the radar of the Dutch league’s best club.
According to converging news reports, Ajax Amsterdam is interested in signing the young football player and is “ready” to offer €20 million (MAD 223 million) in transfer fees.
Bilal El Khannous plays as a midfielder for Belgian Pro League club Genk and his contract is set to expire in June 2026.
The attacking midfielder’s value in the football market is estimated at €4.5 million (MAD 50 million), according to Transfer Market.
Born in Belgium of Moroccan parents, the promising young midfielder chose to represent Morocco over Belgium at the 2022 World Cup.
Following the Atlas Lions’ historic homecoming on Tuesday, El Khannouss was the youngest member of the Moroccan national team to be hosted and decorated by King Mohammed VI.
The King awarded Royal Wissams to El Khannouss and other members of Morocco’s national football team in recognition of their history-making achievements at the Qatar World Cup.

El Khannouss made his youth career debut with Anderlecht from 2009 to 2019, before joining Genk in 2019.
The Moroccan player has made 15 appearances and produced one assist for his Belgian club in the current season.
In addition to El Khannouss, other Moroccan football players’ outstanding performances at the FIFA World Cup have captured international attention and piqued the interest of major football leagues.
Several Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Sofyan Amrabat, Morocco’s commanding and dynamic midfielder who currently plays for Serie A club Fiorentina.
