Rabat – Argentina is one step closer to securing their third World Cup title, having secured a spot in the final match after defeating Croatia 3-0 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
The game began with the usual formidable defensive display from Croatia, but Argentina eventually found its rhythm and started penetrating the European team’s defense.
Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic brought down Julian Alvarez in the box in the 32nd minute, receiving a yellow card and awarding Argentina a penalty kick, which star player Lionel Messi effortlessly scored.
It did not take long for Argentina to widen its lead, with Alvarez making a run for the goal from the center of the pitch, leaving a trail of defenders in his wake and getting a couple of deflections off some of them before poking the ball in the back of the net.
As the second half progressed, Alvarez managed to add another goal to his tally after taking a pass from Messi inside Croatia’s box.
Messi and co will face the winner from tomorrow’s Morocco-France game in the final, set to take place on Sunday at 16:00 Moroccan time, at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

The squad will be hunting for the country’s third World Cup title, having not won since Diego Maradona and his teammates brought the trophy home in 1986.
Croatia were finalists in the 2018 World Cup but ultimately lost the title to France. The team consistently punched above their weight in Russia with their impressive defensive style and were that tournament’s dark horse.
The Croatian side will be playing the third-place match against the loser of tomorrow’s Morocco vs France game on Saturday, at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.
