Rabat – Colombian superstar Shakira has joined a growing list of celebrities commending Morocco’s eye-catching and historic win against Portugal.

The Colombian star used her famous Waka Waka lyrics to celebrate Morocco after its win against Africa, emphasizing that “This time [is] for Africa.”

“This time for Africa!!  #WorldCup,” the superstar wrote on her Twitter.

Morocco’s national team defeated Portugal 1-0 during the quarter-finals game. Youssef En-Nesyri scored the historic goal for Morocco.

The Atlas Lions’ defense and Yassine Bounou’s goalkeeping vigilance helped the Moroccan national team maintain the lead and make history to become the first ever Arab and African nation to qualify for the semi-finals.

Morocco received several congratulatory messages from a growing list of celebrities, heads of states, and officials.

Billionaire Elon Musk also congratulated Morocco in a tweet. Senegalese President Macky Sall similarly congratulated the North African country, describing the win as “fantastic” and “historic.”

Former German football player Mesut Ozil also celebrated the qualification.

“Proud  What a team!  What an achievement for the African continent & the Muslim world  Great to see such a fairytale is still possible in modern football – this will give so many people so much power & hope  #Morocco #WorldCup #Qatar2022,” the former Germany international said.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions will play either against England or France. At the time of writing, France is leading the game 2-1. England missed to score an equalizer after a failed penalty in the 84th minute.
